More about those Red Wines
EISENSTONE MARANANGA SHIRAZ
Stephen Cook loved red. Loved Shiraz. Loved Barossa Shiraz.
Whilst the rest of the industry is busy expanding options through different blends, varieties & regions- Stephen decided to explore deeper in the place he loved best.
Eisenstone only makes straight shiraz, and it must be from the Barossa. From these constraints Stephen Cook has developed the love of the sub-region. (& vineyards within each)
He works with the best possible fruit and in small volumes, adding to the difficulty of obtaining supplies as a club. (no more than 2500 bottles are made of any Eisenstone wine.)
I had the pleasure of speaking with Stephen at his tasting early in 2023 and the Marananga sub region became my favourite.
I hope you get a chance to try this wine whilst I still have stocks available, as I have only managed to secure 24 bottles.

Kalleske eduard shiraz
Kalleske only started selling their wine in 2004, but their story started way back in 1853 with the same land in the Greenock district of the Barossa Valley.
Eduard & Rosina Kalleske were the first of seven generations of the same family to have farmed the land and tended the vineyards that they first planted, selling their grapes to other winemakers finding their way into many vintages of Penfolds Grange.
Troy Kalleske had always wanted to be a winemaker, and in 2002 with the access he had to his family’s grapes created the first wine bearing the Kalleske family name. Nowadays, none of their grapes are sold off, the Eduard grapes are all sourced from a 1905 planted vineyard and the result is magnificent.
