Australia Day Turnaround Triples Tournament

The Hunters Hill Bowling Club hosted a memorable Australia Day celebration on Sunday, 26 January, featuring a thrilling day of bowls, camaraderie, and a spectacular feast.

The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated Turnaround Triples Tournament, where 42 enthusiastic bowlers took to the green under ideal weather conditions. After intense competition, the team of Greg Stuart, Harry Stuart, and Jake Stuart triumphed with 29 points, taking home the $450 first prize. Close behind, Ross Bauer, Billy Carpenter, and Walter Cappelletto secured second place and the $210 prize with 28 points. Third place and $120 went to Bruce Peel, Brett Condon, and Brendon Love, who also finished on 28 points but narrowly missed out on a countback. Jimmy Juniper received a special award for the best-dressed participant of the day.

A Feast to Remember

The celebration reached its peak with a post-game feast, masterfully prepared by Orestes Vandoros and Eli Greenall. The duo began their preparations in the early hours, ensuring the spit-roast lamb was cooked to perfection.

Guests were treated to appetisers of spanakopita and BBQ octopus, followed by a main course of slow-roasted lamb, BBQ chicken, Greek salad, and fresh bread rolls. The feast concluded with a superb serving of baklava, which was widely praised as the perfect ending to a delightful day.
